Ensuring a Quick Response
Tuesday, September 30, 2008
-
For the past 2 years, the Lincolnway Fire Company and Shiloh Fire Company have utilized duty crews to ensure proper staffing and a quicker response for emergency calls throughout the night.

Both stations have bunk rooms where crews can stay at the station over night and not have to worry about getting out of bed and driving to the station in the middle of the night for emergency calls.  This also allows for a faster response.

Crews consist of 3 - 4 teams with 4-5 members on each team.  The teams then rotate throughout the week.  Of course any member may respond to any incident whether its there duty crew night or not.

Both companies are pleased with how the crews have been working and plan on continuing the program and hope to grow the program as each station receives new members.

If you are interested in becoming a member of either station and participate in the duty crew program please contact David Nichols Fire Chief of West Manchester Township Fire and Emergency Services at 717-792-3505 or download and fill out the appropriate application from our website.

CAPITAL PROJECTS BECOME REALITY
The members of West Manchester Township Fire Department would like to thank the residents of West Manchester Township as well as the Board of Supervisor's for making 2 capital projects become reality. In October 2007 Shiloh Fire Company dedicated its newly renovated fire station that was in planning for over 10 years. Renovations consisted of adding 3 new bays, training towner, fitness center, and more spacious work areas. In March 2008 Lincolnway Fire Company placed in service its new 2008 KME Heavy Rescue that took almost 2 years of planning before being placed in service. Without the support of our residents and Township Supervisors these projects could not have been made possible.
